With the positivity of five new cases to the COVID-19 this Thursday, all from the head town, the province of Ciego de Ávila marks a trend to the complication of its epidemiological situation, since the patients and their multiple contacts are dispersed in the territory.
At a press conference Dr. Eduardo Zalacain Petgrave, deputy director of Epidemiology in the province, said that one of the patients is 45 years old and is a contact of a previously confirmed case, of this 10 contacts are kept under surveillance.
Another of the infected Avilanians, 47 years old, is also a contact of a previously confirmed case. Ten contacts are kept under surveillance.
Also from the provincial capital, a Cuban citizen of 50 years old, whose source of infection is being investigated. 12 contacts are kept under surveillance.
It was also positive to the COVID-19, a 69-year-old woman who is related to a sick person previously confirmed. Twelve contacts are being kept under surveillance.
Finally, a 74-year-old Cuban citizen, the source of infection is investigated and she reports 8 contacts.
Zalacaín Petgrave highlighted that, from the five cases, three have a source of infection in the determined focus in the municipality of Venezuela. Of the two remaining cases, one belongs to the South health area and the other to the North polyclinic of Ciego de Ávila.
There are still 319 tests pending in the laboratories, sent this Wednesday, while 273 contacts are housed in isolation centers, mostly in Ceballos 8, others in Las Cañas, and La Rueda Motels.
Eduardo Zalacain Petgrave called to resume extreme measures to avoid infection and to go promptly to the doctor if he feels any symptoms described by the protocols related to SARS-CoV-2.
