In a solemn political and cultural evening held at the Provincial Party Theatre, the Avilanian membership commemorated this Wednesday the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
The ceremony paid tribute to the history, to the continuity of the Revolution, and very especially to the exemplary conduct of the workers and cadres who sustain the revolutionary project from the grassroots.

During the ceremony, the founding moment of the political organisation that unified the revolutionary forces was evoked.
It was recalled that it was precisely following the Victory of Playa Girón, in April 1961, that the creation of the Communist Party of Cuba was proclaimed and the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution was declared, before the world and in the face of imperialist aggression.

As the culmination of the day of tribute, the Party leadership in the province presented special recognitions to workers and cadres who, through the modesty of their daily work, have embodied the values of loyalty, commitment and dedication to the people.
In this context, the recognition awarded to José Carlos Córdovi Ckack was particularly applauded, highlighting his steadfastness and dedication in every responsibility undertaken throughout his career within the Party’s ranks.
The evening was also an occasion to honour former founding cadres and historical leaders of the territory, who received a warm embrace from the new generations of members as a symbol of the continuity of the revolutionary project.
The ceremony reaffirmed the commitment of the Avilanian people to the principles that gave rise to the Party on 16 April 1961, amidst the battles and gunpowder smoke of Girón, and which today, 65 years later, continue to guide the defence of sovereignty and the construction of socialism in Cuba.
