Ceballos Agroindustrial Company in the advance of the Cuban economic strategy

The consolidation of the export portfolio of Ceballos Agroindustrial Company, from Ciego de Ávila, guarantees its inclusion among the 37 selected in Cuba to make sales and imports viable in productive ways, both for the state and for private individuals.

This entity leads since 2018 the province’s export pole, which is also integrated by the agricultural companies La Cuba, Cubasoy and Arnaldo Ramírez, the departments of Soil and Vegetable Health, the Center of Bioplants and the University Máximo Gómez Báez.

It also includes the Agroindustrial entity of grains Valle de Caonao, in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

Domingo Escalante Pérez, Director of Foreign Trade at D´Ceballos, the company commercial firm, said to the Avilanian Television that as a result of the new modalities for commercialization in Agriculture, they already have a contract with four private producers who have benefited from their productions, such as Persian lime and avocado, before going to the international market.

We also have an agreement with the Paquito González Agricultural Production Cooperative, said Escalante Pérez.

Agroindustrial Ceballos applies science and technology very well in the field and industry, implements successful production strategies, and shows an effective national and international marketing, which supports the economic development that the country needs.

D´Ceballos in 2019 contributed to foreign sales with aseptic and concentrated mango pulps, aseptic banana and guava purees, concentrated white grapefruit juices, and sulfited papaya.

In this 2020, characterized by the appearance of the COVID-19 disease that hinders greater commercialization among countries, the avilanian entity has maintained its contributions to exports with the aim of helping to increase the effective financial capacity that the national economy deeply needs.

Aseptic mango puree and fresh mango, MD-2 pineapple, chili habanero bell pepper, charcoal and aloe are among those items, all of proven quality.

The Ceballos Agroindustrial Company has 11 thousand hectares, of which about eight thousand are covered by fruit trees such as mango, guava, pineapple and citrus; other 17 with protected cultivation houses, 10 with the semi-protected one and the remaining lands are used in the sowing of viands, vegetables and grain.

In the last decade, they invested in the expansion and modernization of their technology, which allows them to triple the levels of fruit and vegetable processing, with the consequent diversification of production, improvement of food quality and safety and reduction of energy carriers.

Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero, Cuban Minister of Agriculture, recently said that as part of these new opportunities generated by the measures, more than 600 of the 4,800 agricultural cooperatives that make up the system have had foreign currency accounts opened, while others are in the process of signing contracts with state-owned companies for export.
