Capacity of sugar sector in Ciego de Ávila reinforced

The Sugar Company of Ciego de Ávila acquired new machinery to reinforce the cane draught capacity during the harvesting season, which this time is expected to start on December 10 at the Ciro Redondo Sugar Mill, located in the municipality of the same name. Eduardo Larrosa Vázquez, director of the entity, stated to the Cuban News Agency that they bought eight tractors for Ciro Redondo, a factory favored with about 30 investments, valued in more than 73 million pesos and more than 17 million dollars.

The general program of technological improvement makes it possible for it to be interconnected with the bioelectric plant, the first one built in Cuba in areas surrounding that industry, a fact that will, in turn, revolutionize the nation’s energy matrix, Larrosa Vázquez said.

The eight machines are of universal use of 160 horsepower on tires with multiple features, among them soil preparation, and cane and bagasse draught, the director added.

This equipment was acquired through an agreement with the Central Company of Supply and Sales of Heavy Transport Equipment and its Parts, TRANSIMPORT, one of the 37 entities specialized in the activity of foreign trade authorized last July.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, TRANSIMPORT can import special applications on trucks and trailers, agricultural machinery (harvesters and tractors on wheels and crawlers of low, medium and high power, accessories and implements), special and construction equipment, which also includes batteries, engines, tires, parts, pieces, and accessories.
