With 16 new cases of coronavirus and one death, according to the note of the Ministry of Public Health at the close of this Sunday, the province of Ciego de Ávila accumulates 40 positive to the deadly virus, which undoubtedly raises the alarm much more, from the increase of cases, of which five are unknown the source of infection.

– Cuban citizen, 85 years old. He comes from the Municipality of Majagua. Contact of a positive case. Personal Pathological Background. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He is in Intensive Care, afebrile, disoriented at times with light polypnea, wet cough, spontaneously ventilating. Hemodynamically stable. Gasometry with moderate hypoxemia. Chest Rx. Bilateral inflammatory lesions with predominance of right hemithorax.
From the 54 year-old Avilanian who passed away, the information from the Ministry of Public Health points out that he had a personal pathological history: Arterial Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus.
On August 29th he started coughing, nasal secretion and decay, being attended by his daughter, who is a doctor, without suspecting COVID- 19. On September 2, he suffered from shortness of breath and increased fatigue. The family took him to the Antonio Luaces Iraola Hospital at night, where he was treated with supplementary oxygen and antibiotics.
He was transferred to the Roberto Rodriguez de Morón Hospital, where he is received with respiratory distress and hemodynamic instability, so he is transferred directly to the Intensive Care Service.
The patient is intubated and administered amines. However, minutes later he presents cardiac failure, cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers were performed, which were not effective. With all these cases, the epidemiological situation of the province of Ciego de Ávila marks a very complicated situation when an event is declared in the head municipality, so that to extreme and abide by the measures indicated by the Provincial Defense Council is an individual responsibility, which must have the support of the family and the authorities of the territory.
