The agricultural enterprise CubaSoy began in Ciego de Avila the potato harvest, and it will be extended in the coming days to five other production units in the province.
The first sacks coming out of the fields begin to gradually be distributed in the provincial capital and the municipality of Venezuela , said the delegate of Agriculture Orlando Pérez Pedreira.
Agriculture specialists say that the over seven hundred hectares planted have a favorable phyto-sanitary conditions to guarantee irrigation and fertilizers, which will help achieve yields of about twenty tons per hectare.
Considered one of the largest producers of potato provinces in the country, Ciego de Avila will increase controls so that the tuber is distributed in an organized way to consumers in all municipalities.
Residents of various regions of the country will also be benefitted from the food, rich in vitamins and minerals, harvested in Ciego de Avila fields.
