Scientist students groups are created at the University of Medical Sciences in Ciego de Ávila to develop studies about major health problems in the territory and the research lines of the Ministry of Public Health.
Both in the Faculty José Assef Yara at the capital city and in its affiliate Arley Hernandez Moreira in the city of Moron, students of different specialties and health technologies add themselves to those groups since the first year and engage in various Projects.
Mentored by professors and researchers, students of medical specialties perform studies on cancer, natural and traditional medicine, chronic and cardiovascular diseases, reproductive health and others, and coordinate research methodology courses.
In the Faculty José Assef Yara, of Ciego de Avila the President of the Scientific Group is Jose Ignacio Robaina, who, along with about 15 young people, carry out this important work which develops the habit of researching and bringing more elements in the complex world of medical science.
In addition, community work that these students do is very useful, especially those engaged in small inaccessible settlements, as the one called “Mis manos por tu sonrisa”, held by students of the career of Stomatology, bringing oral health to the rural population.
According to the report by Frank Hernandez, president of the University Students Federation (FEU) in the teaching health center this course they will develop multiple activities, such as the next intervention in the town El Pitirri, La Cuba, a place to which they will lead health actions together with an artistic and sports representation from the faculty.
