Recognition Given to journalists in Ciego de Ávila

Journalists Jorge Luis Delgado Felipe, President of the UPEC in the province, and Ricardo Benítez Fumero, a reporter of ´Radio Surco´, received this Tuesday the Distinction Jewels of the Avilanian Culture, as part of the activities carried out for the March14th, Day of the Cuban Press.

Magalis Álvarez Pino, General Secretary of the Union of Culture in the territory, when delivering the trophy, highlighted the professional revolutionary careers of both, who have managed to describe the reality of the island and face the fierce ideological struggle perpetrated from foreign media entities.

She also praised the performance of various local media, who in their daily struggle achieve an effective impact on traditional tasks and new structures which now require the computer age.

Prior to the described ceremony, members of the Cuban Association of Craft Artists in this central region of the country, also paid tribute to workers in the sector, who in frank exchange of experience recognized the worth of publications made to such difficult and necessary cultural task.

The tribute program in Ciego de Avila for the Press Day occupied some space of the top leadership of the Ministry of Interior in the same level, who in presence of Wuilson Ortíz Méndez, Provincial Chief of the politic body, highlighted the scope, ideological and preventive interest of the radio, television and newspapers, all according to instill values and defend the interests of the people.
