Professionals of the provincial Hospital “Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola” of Ciego de Avila , performed the first surgery in the emergency medical service of that institution this Wednesday.
The patient required immediate surgery, and due to his instability he could not be transferred to the Central General Unit, located on the fifth floor.
Dr. Francisco Hernández González, General Surgery Specialist, told Radio Surco that the patient arrived into the emergency room with liver trauma and rupture.
This operation was performed for two hours and involved three general surgeons, two anesthesiologists and several nurses.
The Emergency Room in the emergency medical service at the provincial hospital “Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola”, in Ciego de Avila, opened months ago, but so far it had not had patients requiring care in the unit.
