Cuban constitutional project to be discussed in Haiti

The consultation process is the expression of the democratic and participatory character of the revolutionary state.

Members of the Cuban State Mission in Haiti will discuss today the Cuban draft constitutional reform, one of the largest democratic exercises in the Greater Antilles.

To Mario Amaro, an official of the Cuban Embassy, the consultation process initiated on August 15, is the expression of the democratic and participatory character of the revolutionary state.

The new constitution, he said, contains Fidel´s ideas, while incorporating the concept of socialist state of right and it defines the state-people relationship, the importance of sustainable development and it has the main guidelines of our foreign policy relationship.

On the other hand, Jorge Luis Quiros, department chief of the Cuban Medical Brigade, said that the new project marks new ways of ownership of the means of production and remains the priority on children, the elderly, the disabled and the right of free health and education.

The reform project approved by the Cuban parliament on July 22, modifies 113 items, adds 87 and removes other 11, and consultations will allow Cuban citizens all over the world, review, discuss and understand the fundamental law of the state.

According to Alberto Gonzalez, member of the Cuban brigade in the consultative process youth has a key role and should continue with the historical legacy of the revolution.

Cuban constitutional project debates in Haiti, organized in several meetings will have the participation of more than 600 employees of the island, as well as residents in this Caribbean nation.
