Concludes Puppets to the Center in Ciego de Ávila

The eighth edition of Puppets to the Center, dedicated to the III Congress of the “Hermanos Saiz” Association and the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the struggle for independence of Cuba, ended in Ciego de Avila.

Along the boulevard of the capital city, the Ciego de Avila family had the opportunity to witness this weekend on the longest night of the puppet, the talent of local artists from various provinces of the country and Latin America.

Works like Dirty Pick, from the Zahories; Dunkeys stories, from the Guiñol Nacional; Look out! There are dogs, from the Teatro La Proa; a different night, from the Remedios Guiñol; The Night Watchman and the Devil, from Guantánamo, and The Larry´s puppets, from the chilean group Titerike, were among the proposals.

Valentina Morelo, with stories of Uncle Tuni, and Blanca Vega, with Not the king, both of Argentina, were attracted to Ciego de Avila by one of the most important events of this kind taking place in the country.

One of the most striking and emotional presentations of these days was Ruandi, carried to scene by the local puppet Polichinela group, showing us the Cuba tough years of slavery and palenques through a child’s experiences.

Its author Gerardo Fulleda León, 2014National Theater Award, invited to Puppets to the Center.

Santiago renowned dramatist said that this work will soon be taken to the big screen.
