In view of the increase in confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 and Dengue in Ciego de Ávila, the health authorities of the territory recommend going to the public health system promptly in case of fever, respiratory symptoms or health discomfort.
In the midst of the complex epidemiological situation, work is being done to strengthen the investigations in order to seek out the greatest number of probable cases of both diseases, by symptomatology or by contact with patients or suspects.
Dr. Eduardo Salacain Petgrave, deputy director of the Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in the territory, told Radio Surco that people suspected of contracting both Dengue and COVID-19 remain isolated in the centers established for each disease, in which hygiene and preventive measures are strengthened.
In Ciego de ávila the risk of contracting either of these two diseases is increasingly higher, in the case of Dengue due to the high incidence of the transmitting agent, and in the case of COVID-19 due to the spread of the disease in almost all municipalities.
In view of the complex epidemiological situation, the call is to intensify the measures of prevention of both diseases and to fulfill in a responsible way the ordinances emitted by the Provincial Defense Council, in order to reduce the levels of propagation of these mortal diseases.
