Activities on Labor Day of Tourism carried out in Ciego de Avila

Thirteen people from Ciego de Avila with over 20 years of uninterrupted work will receive on Monday the medal Elpidio Sosa, the highest distinction awarded by the Union of Tourism in Cuba as part of the celebrations for the March 4, the day of those working in this sector.

From the results obtained both administratively and in the union, the hotel ´Pullman´ in Cayo Coco will host the main activities in the province, where the seal ´El Criollito´ will be awarded, recognition given by the service excellence over the summer season.

Maria del Carmen García Ocampo, high representative of the union movement in the territory, said that each facility has its own initiatives for the celebration day, and pointed out, among the initiatives, the donations delivery to homeless children and victims of the tornado in Havana.

Every March 4th  it is held in Cuba the Labor Day of Tourism, commemorating the birth of Elpidio Sosa, killed in the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on July 26th, 1953 fighter who sold his gastronomic dependent position to collect funds for the revolutionary cause.
